POST GRADUATE POSITION
BIOLOGICAL CHEMISTRY OF INFLAMMATION

A Postdoctoral Research Position is open at the University of California Davis in biological chemistry to look at mechanisms of inflammation. The major target is pulmonary inflammation and in particular asthma and cystic fibrosis and COPD. The successful candidate will be part of a team approaching the problem using metabolomics, cell biology, pharmacology and other technologies. The majority of the in vivo work will use rodent models, but it will involve a collaboration to extend animal results to human pulmonary inflammation. In particular we will focus on the pathways of the arachidonate cascade as the relate to pulmonarydisease. The results of these studies will be used to predict biomarkers of human health and ask if metabolomics can be used to diagnosis and follow the treatment of pulmonary disease. We will generate the biochemical data to ask if inhibitors of the human soluble epoxide hydrolase should be used in clinical trials to treat asthma, COPD, CF and related diseases. The equipment available for this work is listed at http://acore.ucdavis.edu/index.htm.

The successful candidate should have an interest in inflammation and pulmonary biology. A Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology or relevant discipline is required. This position is available immediately for two years with the possibility of renewal. Laboratory information and publications are at http://www.biopestlab.ucdavis.edu/. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, publication list, and the names and contact information of three references to pmnguyen@ucdavis.edu. The position is open until filled will be in the laboratory of Dr. Bruce Hammock, Department of Entomology and Cancer Center, University of California, Davis, CA 95616.

UC Davis is an affirmative action/equal employment opportunity employer and is dedicated to recruiting a diverse research community. We welcome all qualified applicants to apply including women, minorities, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
