Oscar Yanes received his PhD in Biochemistry from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB) under Professor F.X. Aviles. During his PhD he had collaborations with Professor Peter Roepstorff of the University of Southern Denmark and Professor Renato Zenobi of ETH, Zurich. His graduate studies focused on protein-ligand interactions in complex biological samples by MALDI-TOF MS. Currently he is involved in the stem cells, metabolomics, proteomics and nanostructures research at the Scripps Center for Mass Spectrometry. Oscar is also the 2006 recipient of the Spanish Proteomics Research Award.
