Ron Niece

Dr. Ron Niece received his graduate education in genetics at the University of Wisconsin. Beginning in the 80's, he was active at the University of Wisconsin Biotechnology Center in the development of shared resources for protein purification and sequencing, peptide synthesis, DNA synthesis and sequencing as well as the resources for production of monoclonal antibodies and transgenic mice. In 1995, Dr. Niece moved to the University of California, Irvine, to provide resources for high sensitivity protein sequencing along with DNA sequencing and fragment analysis. Recently, Dr. Niece has been working with the area biotechnology and pharmaceutical communities in the area of research resources and technologies. One of Ron's more productive endeavors has been his participation in the founding of the Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities (ABRF). This professional organization of researchers and others interested in technology and its availability to scientists is unique in its research groups which study and evaluate technological capabilities as they are practiced in working laboratories. Ron's two boys are off on their own or in graduate school leaving him time to pursue his interest in Highland Dancing and Scottish Country Dancing.
