Barbara Garrison received her Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1975 from the University of California, Berkeley. She is currently Professor of Chemistry at the Pennsylvania State University and served as Head of the Department of Chemistry from 1979/86. She is a Fellow of the American Physical Society (1994) and holds numerous Lectureships at various universities. She is active in the APS, ACS, AVS, and served on NSF’s Advisory Committee in Chemistry from 1991/93. Currently she is on the Board of Chemical Sciences and Technology for the ACS and serves on the Department of Energy Basic Energy Sciences Advisory Committee.
